The Eye of Horus was used as a protective amulet.
Ancient Egypt boasts a remarkable civilization. They were very advanced in technology. They built the pyramids, which are still standing today, and they were organized in their own social structure. The Ancient Egyptians also had a very interesting religion, which affected their lives in many ways. First of all, they were polytheists, which means they believed in many gods. Their gods represented various components of nature, as well as death and birth. Also, most of Ancient Egypt's gods were shown as either in full animal form, or in human form with an animal's head. People could only worship and give offerings and prayers to gods who had a name.
Next, Pharaohs, who ruled ancient Egypt, and Priests played a very important role in their religion. Ancient Egyptians viewed the Pharaoh as a god. Priests performed rituals and ceremonies. High priests had a connection to a god.
Whenever anyone thinks of mummies, they probably think of Ancient Egypt. Mummification was a huge part of Ancient Egypt's religion. Ancient Egyptians believed in an afterlife. People were buried with miscellaneous supplies others thought that they might need for the afterlife. From gods and goddesses Ancient Egyptians worshipped, to Pharaohs and priests, to mummies and the belief in an afterlife, religion was the very heart of Ancient Egypt's civilization.
